Ballon d’Or 2025: Full List of Winners from Paris Ceremony

The Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris once again hosted football’s most prestigious individual awards ceremony, with the Ballon d’Or and its companion trophies recognising the standout players, coaches, and clubs from the 2024/25 season. Here’s a full breakdown of the honours handed out on the night.

Lamine Yamal Wins Men’s Kopa Trophy

Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal opened the ceremony in style by lifting the men’s Kopa Trophy, awarded to the best player in the world aged 21 or under. On stage, Yamal struck a modest tone, thanking France Football, his club, and the Spanish national team for their support throughout his breakthrough year.

Vicky López Claims First Women’s Kopa Trophy

Barcelona’s dominance continued as 19-year-old forward Vicky López became the first-ever winner of the women’s Kopa Trophy. Her rapid rise at club and international level has made her one of the brightest prospects in the women’s game — and now she holds a place in Ballon d’Or history.

Sarina Wiegman Wins Women’s Johan Cruyff Trophy

England manager Sarina Wiegman was recognised as the women’s coach of the year with the Johan Cruyff Trophy.
She guided the Lionesses to a dramatic UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 triumph, defeating Spain on penalties in the final to successfully defend their European crown. “What an honour to get this award after an insane summer,” Wiegman told the Paris crowd.

Luis Enrique Wins Men’s Johan Cruyff Trophy

Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique was named men’s coach of the year, though he couldn’t be in Paris to collect the Johan Cruyff Trophy in person, as he was leading PSG in a Ligue 1 clash away at Marseille.

Enrique delivered the most successful season in PSG’s history: a domestic double, a first-ever UEFA Champions League title, and the UEFA Super Cup.

Hannah Hampton & Gianluigi Donnarumma Take Yashin Trophies

England and Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton made history as the inaugural women’s Yashin Trophy winner.
Her year included a standout Player of the Match performance in the EURO 2025 final, where she saved twice in the shootout, plus an unbeaten WSL campaign with Chelsea that featured 13 clean sheets.

For the men, Gianluigi Donnarumma of PSG took the Yashin Trophy following a season stacked with silverware: Ligue 1, Coupe de France, the UEFA Champions League, and the UEFA Super Cup.

Pajor & Gyökeres Crowned Gerd Müller Trophy Winners

The Gerd Müller Trophy, recognising the top scorers across club and country, went to Poland’s Ewa Pajor and Sweden’s Viktor Gyökeres.

    • Ewa Pajor (Barcelona/Poland): Scored 43 goals in 46 appearances, setting a new single-season scoring record for Barcelona and driving the club towards a treble push.
    • Viktor Gyökeres (Sporting CP/Sweden, now Arsenal): Netted 54 goals in 52 games, including 39 in Portugal’s Primeira Liga as Sporting retained their crown. His exploits earned him a blockbuster transfer to Arsenal this summer.

Arsenal Named Women’s Club of the Year

Arsenal claimed Women’s Club of the Year after lifting the UEFA Women’s Champions League. They also finished as WSL runners-up and drew record-breaking crowds at the Emirates.

PSG Named Men’s Club of the Year

Paris Saint-Germain’s historic season earned them Men’s Club of the Year. With Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, the UEFA Champions League, and the UEFA Super Cup all secured, the Paris giants swept both domestic and continental honours.

Socrates Award Goes to the Xana Foundation

The Socrates Award, recognising humanitarian initiatives, was presented to the Xana Foundation. Founded by PSG coach Luis Enrique in memory of his daughter Xana, who passed away in 2019, the organisation supports children and young people living with life-threatening illnesses.

PSG Dominate 2025 Ballon d’Or Rankings

The men’s Ballon d’Or shortlist underlined PSG’s remarkable strength in depth. Eight of the top 10 were Paris players: Ousmane Dembélé, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Vitinha, Achraf Hakimi, Kylian Mbappé, Nuno Mendes, and Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The other two spots went to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer. Barcelona’s Pedri placed 11th after contributing to a domestic cup double and Spain’s UEFA Nations League success — his omission from the top 10 drew strong fan reaction online.

    Aitana Bonmatí Wins 2025 Women’s Ballon d’Or

Aitana Bonmatí has etched her name even deeper into football history by winning the 2025 Ballon d’Or Féminin — her third consecutive triumph at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.

Already regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of her generation, Bonmatí’s latest victory is a testament to her unmatched consistency and ability to deliver on the biggest stages. At just 27 years old, she has already become a World Cup winner, a three-time UEFA Women’s Champions League winner with Barcelona, and now a record-setting three-time Ballon d’Or holder.

The Barcelona playmaker was again at the heart of her club’s success in 2024/25, dictating games with her vision, passing range, and relentless work rate. Whether orchestrating attacks in La Liga or producing decisive moments in Europe, Bonmatí has shown the rare ability to both control matches and rise when her team needs her most.

She held off fierce competition from Arsenal’s Mariona Caldentey, who finished second after a superb campaign capped by Champions League glory, and England forward Alessia Russo, who placed third following a prolific year in the WSL and on the international stage.

Bonmatí’s latest Ballon d’Or confirms her status as not only the best in the world today, but one of the defining players in the history of the women’s game.

    Ousmane Dembélé Wins 2025 Men’s Ballon d’Or

Ousmane Dembélé capped off a career-defining season by lifting the 2025 Ballon d’Or in Paris, edging out PSG teammate Lamine Yamal in a close-run vote.

It is the first Ballon d’Or of Dembélé’s career and comes after a season that saw him transform from a dazzling winger into one of the most decisive players in world football. The French international was instrumental in Paris Saint-Germain’s historic year, which delivered a domestic double, the club’s first-ever UEFA Champions League, and the UEFA Super Cup.

While Yamal’s meteoric rise at Barcelona earned him the Kopa Trophy earlier in the evening and widespread acclaim, the Ballon d’Or jury ultimately rewarded Dembélé’s consistency, leadership, and game-changing performances across all competitions. His decisive goals in the Champions League knockout stages and dominant displays in Ligue 1 gave PSG the edge in Europe and secured his place at the very top of the game. Dembélé’s victory marks the continuation of PSG’s golden era, with the club’s players dominating the top 10 rankings.

Our name is the mission: we’re here for the so-called “dead” formats — not to mock them, but to remind people why they mattered. We believe physical media tells a story. That intros still slap. That liner notes still mean something. That the B-side might be better.

Whether you’re reliving the past or discovering it for the first time, Dead Format is your rewind button. We’re not here to dwell — we’re here to explore, explain, and get a little obsessive.
