In the midst of a hectic week packed with global gaming events, Mojang still found time to host the Minecraft Live 2025 livestream — and it didn’t disappoint. The broadcast delivered a series of exciting reveals, from the launch of The Copper Age update to upcoming features in Mounts of Mayhem, a brand-new Friendly Fishing marketplace add-on, and even a crossover with Dragon Ball Z.
Here’s a complete breakdown of all the updates and announcements.
The Copper Age – Launching September 30
Minecraft officially enters The Copper Age this month, with copper expanding far beyond its decorative use. Players will now be able to craft copper-based tools, armour, lighting, and storage — alongside welcoming a brand-new companion, the copper golem.
Highlights include:
- Copper Golem – A buildable mob created from copper and pumpkins. It loves organisation, automatically moving items from copper chests into regular chests around your base. Once fully oxidised, the golem turns into a statue, which can be reawakened by scraping it clean with an axe. Statues even interact with redstone, each pose giving off a unique signal.
- Copper Chests – These new storage blocks allow you to drop in items for your golem to sort. They can oxidise naturally or be preserved with wax.
- Copper Tools & Weapons – Copper becomes a new material tier, stronger than stone but weaker than iron. Tools, weapons, and armour made from copper won’t oxidise.
- Copper Armour – Both players and horses can now be equipped with copper armour, offering durability above leather but below iron.
- Shelves – A display block that holds up to three items. When powered by redstone, shelves can swap multiple hotbar slots at once.
- Lighting & Decor – Oxidising lightning rods, copper lanterns, torches, chains, and bars add flair to builds.
- Golem Interaction – Copper golems and iron golems share a wholesome friendship: iron golems gift copper golems flowers, which the latter proudly wear on their heads.
- Accessibility Tweaks – Dye icons have been redesigned with unique shapes for easier identification.

Mounts of Mayhem – New Combat and Underwater Exploration
The Mounts of Mayhem update is set to introduce fresh mechanics to combat and exploration, with new mounts, mobs, and weapons, announced at Minecraft Live 2025.
Key features:
- Spear Weapon – Damage increases with the speed of the wielder, making it perfect for mounted combat.
- Nautilus Mount – A tameable underwater creature that boosts swimming speed and prevents drowning. It can even be outfitted with armour.
- Zombie Nautilus Riders – Dangerous drowned mobs sometimes spawn mounted on zombie nautiluses, often armed with tridents.
- Nautilus Armour – Protect your aquatic steed with armour crafted in copper, iron, gold, diamond, or netherite.
- Zombie Horses – Returning to Survival mode, these eerie mounts spawn at night with spear-wielding zombies riding them.

Friendly Fishing Add-On – Supporting Ocean Conservation
In collaboration with Conservation International, Mojang is launching the Friendly Fishing add-on via the Marketplace. This expansion adds new species, mechanics, and even environmental lessons.
What to expect:
- Dozens of new fish, including tuna, sharks, clams, and anchovies.
- A fish encyclopedia to fill, with unique mechanics and structures tied to fishing.
- The inclusion of plastic waste among the catches, raising awareness of ocean pollution.
- Treasures, loot, and new underwater structures to discover.
Importantly, Microsoft is donating 100% of net proceeds from Friendly Fishing sales — plus an additional $100,000 — to Conservation International, helping fund their efforts to protect oceans and marine biodiversity.
Dragon Ball Z x Minecraft DLC – Coming Later This Year
The livestream closed with a teaser for a major crossover: Dragon Ball Z is heading to Minecraft. Players can already prepare by grabbing a free Super Saiyan Hair cosmetic from the Marketplace, available now. The full DLC will arrive later this year, bringing one of anime’s most iconic universes into the blocky world.

Minecraft Live 2025 proved that the game continues to evolve in exciting and unexpected ways. Whether you’re eager to explore the versatility of copper, dive into new underwater adventures with the nautilus, or simply relax with a fishing rod in hand, there’s something here for every type of player. Add in a surprise Dragon Ball Z crossover, and it’s clear Mojang is committed to keeping Minecraft fresh, fun, and full of creativity. The Overworld has never looked more alive — now it’s your turn to jump back in and see it all for yourself.
