The long-awaited vinyl debut of the Freddy vs. Jason soundtrack is finally on the way. Real Gone Music have announced that the 2003 horror crossover’s metal-packed companion album will be pressed to wax for the very first time, arriving October 10th. This special edition will be limited to just 1,500 copies, spread across a striking 2-LP red smoke vinyl set.
Freddy Vs. Jason was a horror event two decades in the making, pitting Freddy Krueger against Jason Voorhees in a bloody clash of slasher icons. Its soundtrack captured the aggressive energy of the era, pulling heavily from the nü-metal, metalcore, groove metal, and alternative metal scenes that dominated the early 2000s. Bands like Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, Hatebreed, and In Flames sat alongside cult favourites such as Mushroomhead, Chimaira, and Nothingface, creating a time-capsule of heavy music’s mainstream explosion.
Highlights include Ill Niño’s “How Can I Live”, which became the soundtrack’s lead single, Slipknot’s rare ’97 demo “Snap”, and a furious Mike Patton guest spot on Sepultura’s “The Waste.” Elsewhere, heavy hitters like Lamb Of God (“11th Hour”), Stone Sour (“Inside The Cynic”), and Type O Negative (“(We Were) Electrocute”) round out the lineup, cementing the release as a definitive document of metal’s turn-of-the-millennium landscape.
