In an exclusive Sony PlayStation State of Play showcase, IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios debuted the first gameplay footage of 007: First Light while confirming its release date: 27th March. The reimagined James Bond origin story will launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
The deep-dive trailer highlights some of the locations players will explore, including an undercover operation at a high-stakes chess tournament in Slovakia and a tense mission during a glamorous gala in Kensington, London. Missions are designed with multiple approaches in mind, allowing players to rely on pure stealth, go in guns blazing, or combine both strategies to achieve objectives.
As expected for a Bond adventure, spycraft is just as crucial as firepower. Players can eavesdrop, pickpocket, investigate clues, and use Bond’s instincts to create new pathways through missions. Whether luring enemies into traps, bluffing their way out of danger, or focusing under fire, the experience is tailored to reward creativity and resourcefulness.
Q Branch gadgets also make their much-anticipated return, with IO Interactive packing the game full of unlockable gizmos and tech that become available as players progress.
The cast has also been revealed: Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin, The OA) stars as James Bond, alongside Priyanga Burford as M, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, Kiera Lester as Miss Moneypenny, Lennie James (Fear the Walking Dead, Save Me) as Bond’s mentor John Greenway, and Noemie Nakai as Miss Roth.
Pre-orders are live now, with all buyers receiving a free upgrade to the Deluxe Edition—featuring exclusive item skins, outfits, a weapon skin, and 24-hour early access.
