Superman and Spider-Man Reunite in New DC/Marvel Crossover

Back in 1976, comic fans got the crossover of a lifetime when DC and Marvel teamed up for Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man: The Battle of the Century. The one-shot put two of the biggest heroes in history against each other before forcing them to join forces against Lex Luthor and Doctor Octopus. It was messy, unexplained, and completely unforgettable — and it became a cornerstone of crossover storytelling.

Nearly fifty years later, the two comic book giants are bringing the Man of Steel and the Webslinger back together for a brand-new showdown.

The 2026 Superman/Spider-Man Comics

In March 2026, DC Comics will publish Superman/Spider-Man #1. A month later, in April 2026, Marvel will release its companion issue, Spider-Man/Superman #1. Together, the pair will revive one of comics’ most iconic rivalries and partnerships.

Storylines, creative teams, and exact plot details are still being kept secret, but Bleeding Cool reports that Jim Lee will handle art duties on DC’s issue, while Dan Mora, best known for his DC and Boom Studios work, will take on Marvel’s side of the crossover. Given the success of the recent Batman/Deadpool project, expectations are high that this new crossover will be just as wild — if not bigger.

Celebrating the Classics with Treasury Reprints

Before the new stories hit shelves, both publishers are giving fans a chance to revisit the originals.

Both editions will bring vintage crossovers back to comic shops for the first time in decades, making 2026 not just a revival, but a celebration of superhero history.

A Legacy of Marvel/DC Crossovers

Superman and Spider-Man aren’t the only ones to bridge the Marvel/DC divide. In the past, fans have seen unlikely team-ups like Captain America and Wonder Woman, Daredevil and Green Arrow, and more recently, Batman and Deadpool.

The latter proved especially popular, with Batman #1 selling over 500,000 copies and its crossover follow-up attracting huge attention. With Spider-Man and Superman now returning, it’s clear that these unusual pairings are striking a chord with fans.

What Fans Can Expect in 2026

While the 1976 comic simply dropped both heroes into the same city with little explanation, modern audiences may expect a more detailed setup. Whether the publishers decide to build an in-universe reason for Metropolis and New York colliding, or simply lean into the chaotic fun of the crossover, remains to be seen.

What’s certain is that 2026 won’t be limited to Superman and Spider-Man. Reports hint that other teams, including the X-Men, Justice League, Fantastic Four, and Suicide Squad, may also be on the shortlist for future collaborations.

And before the year even begins, fans can look forward to Batman/Deadpool #1 on October 29, 2025 — another unpredictable mashup leading into the crossover-heavy year ahead.

Why This Matters

Superman and Spider-Man may have first crossed paths nearly half a century ago, but their upcoming return shows that some rivalries — and partnerships — are truly timeless.
